Feature Full Coastal Garden in Dartmouth

Here in South Devon, the Legendary team worked alongside the very talented RHS multi-award winning designer, Tom Simpson, to transform a bland untouched garden around the rear of a recently renovated property in the beautiful town of Dartmouth, situated on the mouth of the River Dart in one of the county’s most popular and enchanting coastal towns.

Our lovely clients wanted a seamless transition from the large contemporary kitchen interior & living space to the exterior of the property. A set of wide steps across the rear facade were built, with light grey tones for the porcelain paving that were chosen to reflect the interior decoration and floor of the kitchen.

These steps gave safe access to a large porcelain paved patio to be used for dining & entertaining that spanned the width of the garden.

With the garden being on a slight gradient aiming down with stunning views towards the mouth of the River Dart, three shallow tiered platforms filled with mixed planting, an on-site bespokely made slate tiled feature water ball, and an offset placed pathway would then lead to the rest of the garden, where swooping gravel pathways around a raised centred natural lawn, acted as a green focal point from the house, all of which were encased on both boundary sides by low planting beds boasting a diverse range of perennial planting and four stunning feature trees that merge contemporary touches with naturalistic coastal theme.

Further down, two functional raised oak sleeper beds give our clients an area for growing seasonal home produce that are both separated with a central metal archway, where a variety of climbing roses scale up and over the arch frame.

Client comment:

‘Legendary Landscapes have transformed our garden into the most amazing space. The attention to detail and quality of the build are second to none. Oli and the team have been an absolute pleasure to work with, always totally committed and flexible. We cannot recommend Legendary highly enough.’
