With this project, the Legendary Landscapes team found themselves in the Somerset town of Chard, where the clients were looking for an all round garden transformation. Working with designer Jamie Higham, the main feature of the garden would be the impressive decking / frame structure, a brand new system only used in a handful of other garden, that would form the outdoor living areas, along with outdoor kitchen, seating area, storage room, and separate green house. The garden has been split into three main areas which included upper natural lawn with surrounding beds, with an adjacent home growing area with raised planters & bespoke greenhouse, then with a new smaller patio area, constructed using natural basalt granite paving slabs, that stepped down into the main decking area with a bespoke built water feature and raised fire-pit. Due to the clay soil which was in abundance in the area, the clients had concerns with the drainage in the lower levels, so a full french drainage system with two large soakaways were installed underneath the garden to give the clients peace of mind, and to protector their neighbours during inclement weather. With our clients being avid gardeners, and once the main hard-scaling had been completed and with the help of horticulturalist Anna Ingram, a full planting scheme had also been implemented, of which Anna along with our lovely clients planted up together, leaving them with a stunning all-year-round garden that is visually impressive not matter what the season.
